Selecting the proper material is crucial to successful design of new bearings.  Factors of the application such as load speeds and temperature must be known for proper alloy selection.

Bronze is normally used as the base material for Spadone Alfa bearings.  The chart below lists a few of the common bearing alloys used in bearing applications.  Each alloy is listed with its specific properties.  These properties should only be used as a guide when designing a bearing for your application.

Bronze alloys may not suitable for all applications.  Especially those that involve environmental concerns, extreme temperature fluctuations and loads that exceed the compressive strengths of bronze.  Other materials with suitable properties can be selected.  These would include cast iron, tool steels, stainless steel and other materials that have provided excellent operating results.

We recommend that you review the details of your application with our staff.
